MEXICO: Festival to Promote Green Commerce

MEXICO CITY, Mar 8 (Tierramérica).- A hundred sustainable producers will gather Mar. 13 at Ecofest, the first eco-festival in the Mexican capital, with the goal of promoting consumption of ecological products.

A hundred sustainable producers will gather Mar. 13 at Ecofest, the first eco-festival in the Mexican capital, with the goal of promoting consumption of ecological products.

"It's the culmination of the final goal to promote green consumption and bring together all those who have proposals for sustainable consumption," Nadir Valle, director of the Green Pages, one of the organizers, told Tierramérica.

The Green Pages is a guide to ecological producers, developed in 2008 by the New Ventures firm.

The participants will present products for the home, food and stationery, among others, in the iconic Chapultepec forest, the lungs of Mexico City.

Ecofest, which has public and private sponsorship, will be an event with zero carbon emissions. There will be containers to separate waste, a move to promote recycling.
